Understanding Wind Ratings

Commercial Flagpoles come with corresponding windspeed ratings. Both flagged (flagpoles with a flag) and unflagged (flagpole with no flag on pole) windspeed ratings are found in the Additional Information section of the product pages.

Residential flagpoles are not offered with corresponding windspeed ratings. If you live in a high wind area, you should consider getting our Heavy Duty Residential Flagpoles for home use as they are stronger than Standard Residential Flagpoles.

Wind Rating

Did you know? The taller the flagpole, the stronger it needs to be to withstand wind pressure.

What Material Should You Choose?

Flagpoles come in different materials, each with its own pros and cons.

Aluminum

Aluminum

Used on majority of commercial and residential flagpoles. Aluminum can corrode in coastal areas if exposed to salty air.

Fiberglass

Fiberglass

Resists corrosion, offers higher wind resistance than aluminum or steel, and is lightweight for easy handling. Ideal for areas prone to salty air such as coastal areas, ensuring safety and longevity. Can be used on both commercial and residential flagpoles.

Steel

Steel

Engineered for maximum strength and safety with industrial-grade paint and finish system, used on taller flagpoles (80ft+) for its strength, height, and long-term durability.

Pair Your Flag with the Right Size Flagpole

Choosing the correct flag size ensures your display looks balanced and professional.

Rule of thumb: The flag’s length should be about 25% of the flagpole’s height.
