This flag was designed by a Gold Star father whose son was KIA in Iraq. He has traveled to all 50 states (on his own dime) asking them to adopt this flag as their symbol of their fallen warriors from all wars similar to the POW/MIA flag. So far, about 20 states have done so. This flag -unlike the POW/MIA flag- can only be manufactured in the USA. A licensing fee is paid to the Honor & Remember Society uses this money to present the families of the fallen with a flag embroidered with their loved one's name, branch of service, conflict and date of death. The white field represents the purity of their sacrifice; the red is the blood they shed; the tri-folded flag symbolizes the flag presented to the family of the fallen; the gold star is the banner flown by the family of the fallen; the blue outline is the banner displayed by families of those deployed; and the eternal flame signifies they will never be forgotten.
