The Philippines flag, also known as the Three Stars and a Sun flag, features a horizontal stripe of red, a horizontal stripe of blue and a white triangle at the hoist. The center of the white triangle is decorated with a sun with 8 rays extending from it. Each of the rays of the sun represents a Philippine province. There are also 3 yellow stars to represent the main island groups that make up the Philippines. When the flag is displayed upside down, with the red stripe on top, it indicates that the country is in a state of war.
