      Outstanding "Star Spangled Banner."

      Posted by RetiredVet2002 on Apr 9th 2015

I wanted a "Star Spangled Banner" of my own to celebrate the Bicentennial of the War of 1812. I fly it on important holidays from events of that historical period. Over the years, my family members were privileged to get to raise the large version of this flag over Fort McHenry in Baltimore Harbor, in connection with trips to the National Scouting Jamborees in Virginia.

The flag is beautiful with sewn stars and stripes. I am very pleased with its workmanship. It is the best example of this type of flag that I was able to find anywhere. I am proud to own this outstanding flag in my collection, and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a “Star Spangled Banner.” You won’t be disappointed.

I was most pleased with the arrival of my 1812 USA flag. Even though I received an email saying that this flag was backordered, it came very quickly. The flag is beautiful and I am so glad that it 100% USA made!

NOT a Replica of the original Star Spangled Banner

Posted by DickB on Nov 18th 2013

The original Star Spangled Banner flew over Fort McHenry and was termed a Garrison Flag because of its size (~20' x 40'). It had 15 stars and fifteen stripes, with the stars arranged in six columns. The stars in the left-most column were tilted to the right, in the next column to the left, etc. Created an interesting effect and the tileted stars have become known as "spangled" stars.
In this flag, the stars are all "straight", not spangled as they would be in a replica.

In commemeration of the War of 1812 bicentennial, I wanted a "Star Spangled Banner" of my own. It's the only US flag with more than 13 stripes (15 to match the number of states). I plan to fly it often along with the 34 star flag which was in force during the first two years of the Civil War which is celebrating its sequi-centennial.

The flag is beautiful with sewn stars and stripes.
